About image
Snooker 9 ball is a new game for both snooker players and pool players. It was a game created by its inventor to help snooker players practice in an enjoyable game rather than just set up balls to practice potting and working on their positional play. It's basically a combination of both snooker and pool and must be played on a snooker table, with the added bonus of colour coded pockets. This will be explained later on in this site. It is a game to help snooker and pool players and not a game to replace snooker as that would be silly. Hopefully the colour coded pockets will be eventually used on a snooker table in the big events in the future and be of assistance to the commentators when commenting on the game, ie, by saying something like; "I think James will go for the yellow ball and pot it in the green pocket" etc, etc.

SNOOKER 9 BALL

Description

Snooker 9 ball is a new game designed to please both the snooker and pool player. It covers all the rules of normal snooker and comprises 9 new rules to make a difference . Instead of 15 reds which are used in snooker, this game uses only 9 reds, plus all the colours which are then all lined up in the triangle. To accomodate the change, the balls have to be set up in a particular pattern in the triangle, as previously described. There is also the added bonus of the player who breaks off first also has the next shot, unless a foul has been committed. He or she can then go for a red unless a red or more has been potted off the break, in which case he/she would go for a colour. The object of the game is to score more points than your opponent. The maximum score when all the balls are potted would be 189 points total. That would mean potting all the colours in their respective pockets to gain double points. All the colours have points scores as follows: yellow 2 green 3 brown 4 blue 5 pink 6 black 7. These are all the normal points as in snooker. The reds count as one point. When a colour is potted in its own coloured pocket, the score is doubled. It is suggested that a pool cue is used for the break-off shot as it could damage a snooker cue, also the break-off shot should be aggressive as to smash the balls all over the table to make it more fun. If the table is not yet up to date with colour coded pockets, one can use coloured tape to stick on the pocket surrounds. The colour coded pockets have been strategically placed so as not to detract from the game of snooker, but will add a new dimension to the game especially the commentators, as all the pockets have names, whereas before only the yellow and green pockets were highlighted. A point of interest is that; all the pocket totals add up to 27, and all the colour coded pockets opposite each other add up to 9, one side of the table is EVENS and adds up to 12, and on the other side is ODDS and adds up to 15, which equals 27. On the evens side are yellow2, brown4, pink6, =12 On the odds side are ; green 3, blue 5, black 7, =15
